Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes is a health and community support agency which provides a range of services designed to promote health for all ages and independence of seniors and special needs clients. Services have historically been rooted in the tradition of "neighbours helping neighbours", delivered by volunteers and staff from multiple sites throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes, often in partnership with other organizations. In the past 28 years, services such as foot care, friendly visiting and more recently, reassurance, caregiver support, assisted living/supportive housing, adult day services, transportation, the agency's basket of traditional Community Support Services has included Meals on Wheels, cardiovascular health promotion and chronic disease self-management education. Since inception in 1985, Community Care has steadily expanded its services and scope of care. The agency also operates a newly established Community Health Centre and Low-Income Dental Clinic.
